Kathrin

Scrum Master

At AKRA since 2023

Hey, I am Kathrin
I've been on board as a Scrum Master since the beginning of 2023. My path to AKRA was anything but typical. I spent more than 20 years as a screenwriter in film and television. Instead of scenes and characters, I now develop healthy team dynamics.
I currently work in an agile train at a large insurance company. Together with my colleagues, I'm responsible for ensuring that the train has everything it needs to work together harmoniously and well. Across the board - and in the individual teams. Within a team, I also take very specific care of individual employees. For example, if someone always tends to work too much. Then I develop strategies to help them get out of this behavior. I enjoy getting to know people and their stories! And creating the space for them to develop to their full potential. That certainly has something to do with my time in film.

»I like giving people their creative space«
I studied computer science and film studies. I then spent more than 20 years in the film industry as a screenwriter and dramaturge. I wrote films for television, but also episodes for "Großstadtrevier" and "Sesame Street". Whether you build code or a story is not so different. In the end, dramaturgy is also very much about decisions: Does the character go left - or right? In addition to writing, I also worked as a creative producer and assistant director, gaining important experience in project management. With two children, however, there was less and less time for traveling and networking. I also no longer liked the tone of communication. In the film industry, there is a lot of separation: authors here - producers there! That's not my idea of good teamwork.

»Community is hugely important to me«
I have been learning and teaching a Korean martial art, Shinson Hapkido, for over 30 years. Community and clear guidelines on how to deal with each other are central here and are also very important to me. There are just as many women as men training with us, of all ages and weight classes. Not in competition - but as a team that works like an orchestra. I immediately noticed that this type of cooperation is also practised at AKRA. The culture of sharing is very strong here. From regular team events to the "Maschinenraum", our lecture series by employees for employees. At AKRA, the knowledge of a wide variety of people flows together to create something (completely) new. And I'm already looking forward to the ideas and stories that will grow from this!
