»I like to be where new things are happening«

Software Developer

Hi, I'm Wanda
Getting a job as a freshly graduated developer is damn hard. You're so motivated! But you have practically zero experience. So it was important for me to find a company that saw my potential - and not just my years under my belt.
At AKRA, I am definitely in good hands with this wish. As a junior frontend developer, I'm currently working on three projects in two different teams and not only learn an incredible amount every day. I also get a lot of leeway to get things off the ground myself. Features that I initially looked at, I now develop on my own. And if I get stuck, I simply ask my guru, "Ben, how does this work?"

»As a singer, I reveal a lot about myself«
As a thoroughly curious person, I like to be where new things happen and completely new experiences await me. In the last five years, I've moved around 15 times and lived in Aachen, Fulda and Hamburg, but also for a few months in Sweden. But I also like to get a change of pace when cooking, for example when experimenting with sour and yeast dough for bread and pizza - or in music. As a singer, I reveal a lot about myself when I'm on stage.

»When I'm developing, I'm acting behind the scenes«
It's completely different with development. There, I work behind the scenes - and that's exactly what I find really exciting. Even in the past, I was the first person to have a PC and take it apart and put it back together again. The fact that there are still people today who think that girls can't do that amazes me every time. I am enthusiastic about many topics that are clearly male-dominated: I develop software, build and tinker, handle drills and jigsaws. And clearly I'm a feminist when I make it clear to others that their view is limited. But I want to shake the prejudices above all by being kick-ass in my job! The fact that I can use the knowledge and experience of so many people at AKRA is a huge benefit for me. And when the day comes that I have gathered enough know-how in one subject area, I simply move on to the next. That's the freedom I want - and I have it here.
