»My strength is in the calm«

Moin, I am Tim
I found my way to AKRA via a completely outdated job advertisement. The fact that I had dug it up somewhere in my browser cache was my good fortune: AKRA called back and I was able to start my diploma thesis here right after graduation.
That was almost 15 years ago now. But the relaxed, informal atmosphere that excited me back then still does today. What I find particularly exciting about my job is that I can always immerse myself in different companies, processes and technologies. Sometimes for a month, sometimes for several years. And without having to travel all over Germany to do so. In the last few years, I was more involved in the backend, especially in the Java environment. There have been some larger monoliths to handle: Applications that have been around for more than 25 years and, as soon as they need to be updated, bring their own challenges. For me, it is particularly important in such projects that the teamwork is right, that people can listen to each other, show consideration and understand what the other person needs. Towards the customer, but also among us developers.

I am not one of the loudest representatives, my strength lies in my calmness. And I appreciate very much that AKRA appreciates exactly that. If you want to get involved here and build something up, you don't have to be a front man. And if you want a good work-life balance, you'll get it. In my free time, I don't spend much time on IT. I live with my wife on the outskirts of Lübeck, and we're always busy with the house and garden. Everything that somehow works, we try to do ourselves. We chop the wood for the fireplace ourselves. Zucchini, beans, lettuce and cucumbers are grown by ourselves. We make our own jam. And since last year we are the proud owners of a homemade pizza oven. With firewood it heats up to 450 degrees. Then you can plan a whole day's menu: first pizza, then bake a cake or bread. And use the residual heat to heat up the rolls the next morning!

The fact that my closest, longest circle of friends lives in the immediate vicinity for such projects is the best prerequisite for me to keep coming up with new ideas. As a passionate pen & paper role-player, I also like to develop them in my head first and then see what the dice make of them. This mix of logic and fantasy, rules and freedom is a world I feel very comfortable in. In crafting, in playing - and in developing. The fact that I can do this at AKRA with so many like-minded people is a great enrichment for me. For almost 15 years - and more to come!
